Coach John Beam was a true pillar of our community—more than a coach, he was a mentor, leader, and source of inspiration. Through his unwavering commitment to his athletes and Oakland youth, he helped generations of young people build confidence, purpose, and belief in themselves.

As we continue to mourn his passing, we are reminded daily of the positive force for change Coach Beam was—leading with energy, passion, and compassion. While he can no longer carry this work forward himself, his impact must continue.

The Beam family has formed Coach Beam’s Legacy Foundation to honor his life’s work and ensure his name, values, and commitment to uplifting the community live on. Proceeds from these shirts directly support the Foundation and help carry Coach Beam’s legacy forward for generations to come.

About the artist: Shomari Smith is a multi-disciplinary artist from Oakland, California. He majored in Illustration at the California College of Arts and is an accomplished illustrator, photographer, and graphic designer. Shomari is co-owner of E14 Gallery, www.e14gallery.com , a small art and gift boutique located in Downtown Oakland, CA and is the director of the feature length Documentary, “‘TIL INFINITY: The Souls of Mischief”. His artwork can be seen at the Chase Center (Golden State Warriors) in San Francisco CA, at Raimondi Park (Oakland Ballers Mural), and 15th & Webster in Downtown Oakland CA (Legendary Words Mural).
